Biography

Mahyar Nouri-Shirazi, D.V.M., Ph.D., is a Professor of Immunology in the Department of Medicine at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Nouri-Shirazi is an immunologist with a keen interest in immunotherapy and vaccines. He has contributed to the field of cancer immunotherapy by designing dendritic cell (DC)-based vaccines for patients with cancer, as well as to the field of transplant immunology through pharmacologically modified DC-based vaccines for tolerance induction. His research lab has also studied the possibility of refining the immune response to vaccines in individuals with compromised immune systems using Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonists. Among his educational responsibilities, he teaches Immunology to M1 and M2 medical and graduate ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä, and he serves as the director of the M2 Pathophysiology and Therapeutics 4 course.
