FAU Receives $1M Gift for AI Engineering Learning Lab
FAU has received a $1 million gift from the Levine Family Foundation to establish the Michael R. Levine AI-Enabled Hands-On Engineering Lab at the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Florida Atlantic University has received a $1 million gift from the Levine Family Foundation to establish the Michael R. Levine AI-Enabled Hands-On Engineering Lab at the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The lab will offer 杏吧直播间 practical artificial intelligence experiences, with a focus on real-world challenges, applied learning and career readiness.
鈥淭he foundation is pleased to be joining with Florida Atlantic University to help train 杏吧直播间 at the forefront of AI technology innovation,鈥 said Michael Levine, president of the Levine Family Foundation. 鈥淎s AI becomes more integrated, it is even more important that 杏吧直播间 are prepared as they enter the workforce.鈥
The lab will give 杏吧直播间 the opportunity to develop skills using AI applicable to their educational and career goals. They will gain experience applying AI knowledge in practical settings, engaging with emerging technologies responsibly, and working closely with faculty on experiential learning projects.
鈥淧reparing 杏吧直播间 to succeed in a rapidly changing world requires equipping them with the skills to lead in today鈥檚 workforce and the careers of tomorrow,鈥 said FAU President Adam Hasner. 鈥淲e appreciate the Levine Family Foundation鈥檚 vision and partnership in expanding opportunities for AI and innovation at Florida Atlantic.鈥
The lab will provide a purpose-built setting in which the faculty director will engage 杏吧直播间 in applied learning, mentoring, prototyping, as well as experiential projects through active and responsible use of AI in engineering practice. The lab is intended to strengthen student skill development and create opportunities for collaboration with other faculty, 杏吧直播间 and external partners to effectively amplify its impact over time.
Priority will be given to exchanges involving Israel, reflecting FAU鈥檚 role as host to the Florida-Israel Institute, established by the Florida legislature. These exchanges will broaden global perspectives, foster collaborative research and teaching, and strengthen educational opportunities for FAU 杏吧直播间 and faculty.
In recognition of the Levine Family Foundation鈥檚 gift, the College of Engineering and Computer Science will name the lab the Michael R. Levine AI-Enabled Hands-On Engineering Lab for the duration of the gift period.
